Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Scott Draffin has been receiving attention and acclaim for his distinctive compositions and exciting performances. He showed an interest in music at an early age, studying the piano and saxophone. Through his father’s substantial record collection, Scott was exposed to a vast array of music, including classical, jazz, popular, and world music. A versatile saxophonist, Scott has performed with jazz combos, big bands, rock bands, salsa groups, saxophone quartets, pit orchestras, wind ensembles, and as a soloist. The variety of his firsthand performing experience informs Scott’s compositions, which exhibit the same diversity. His debut album, featuring Nick Rosen, Billy Thornton, Justin Varnes, and Mace Hibbard, is available now.

In addition to the music he performs with his own group, Scott has written numerous compositions for string quartet, brass quintet, orchestra, chamber ensemble, big band, marching band, and film. Scott was awarded a masters degree in music from Georgia State University, where he served as a graduate teaching assistant. He currently teaches band and orchestra classes at Eagles Landing High School in McDonough, Georgia. As he continues to develop his craft, Scott stays true to his artistic vision in a pursuit to expand the musical realm.
